Sperimenta la vita di Catania!

'A Fera o Luni - Carlo Alberto Square, Catania

Discover Fera 'O Luni — Catania’s Historic Market you want to experience the most authentic and lively soul of Catania, you absolutely have to take a walk through the Fiera 'O Luni, the city's historic market.
Located in the heart of Catania, in Carlo Alberto Square, this fair is a real maze of stalls where you can find everything: from typical Sicilian products to cheap clothing, from antiques to fresh fish.

Why visit it? A dive into the real Catania 🏙️:
Fiera 'O Luni is the largest and most popular market in the city, a mix of scents, colors, and voices that best represent the spirit of Catania.

🍴Street food to try, 🍊Very fresh fruit and vegetables, 👗Low-cost clothing and accessories.

A unique folkloric atmosphere 🎭:
The voices of the vendors, their theatrical way of attracting customers, and the lively bargaining make the experience fun and engaging.

How to get there? About a 7–8 minute walk from Central Station Houses.

If you want to go through it quickly, 30–40 minutes are enough to get a feel for the market and maybe buy something.
If you want to fully experience it, stop to try the street food, browse the stalls, and do some shopping — in that case, I recommend spending at least 1–2 hours

'A Piscaria - Catania

A very atmospheric place to visit in Catania is A Piscaria

Located just a few steps from Piazza del Duomo, this historic fish market is a spectacle of colors, sounds, and scents that tells the story of Sicilian culinary tradition.

Why visit it? A lively and folkloric atmosphere 🎭: Here you’ll see fishermen and vendors at work, cleaning and selling fresh fish with loud calls and typical jokes in Catanese dialect.

Extremely fresh fish 🦑: You’ll find huge tuna, swordfish, red prawns, octopus, mussels, sea urchins, and many other Mediterranean products, all freshly caught.
🍽️ Next to the market, you’ll find small restaurants and fry shops where you can taste freshly cooked fish: mixed fried seafood, marinated anchovies, fresh oysters, and much more.

The market extends under the lava stone arches next to the historic Fontana dell'Amenano, known as “acqua o’ linzolu” because the water flows in a way that looks like a sheet.

How to get there? Exit the apartment and walk towards Via Antonino di Sangiuliano. Turn right onto Via Etnea and continue straight until you reach Piazza del Duomo. On the left side of the square, you’ll see the Fontana dell’Amenano: go down the steps behind the fountain and you’ll find yourself directly inside the Pescheria.
